Bus schedules to and from Grindavík

NOTE: The busses are only operating on the weekends. 

Busses drive regularly from Grindavík to the starting point of the hiking trails to the eruption site and back. The busses are operated by local tour companies. Visitors are encouraged to view the schedules daily as they could change. 

The first busses start running at 12.28 pm and most busses stop running at 10 pm.

Attention! The eruption site is open from 6 am to 9 pm. After closing, the busses can only be used for a ride back from the eruption site.

Fee: 500 ISK for adults, 250 ISK for children (6-15 years), no fee for children under 6 years. One way.

Schedule: The busses only run Saturdays and Sundays, every half hour from 12:30 pm. The last bus from the hiking trail leaves at 11 pm.

  • By Nettó in Grindavík at Vikurbraut
  • By Kvikan, the culture center in Hafnargata
  • By Hópið, the sports center in Austurvegur
