Food’s an essential part of any great holiday and you don’t have to travel far from the airport to find some superb restaurants. If that’s got your mouth watering, here’s where to go if you’re looking for the best restaurants on the Reykjanes peninsula. This isn’t a complete list of all the great restaurants in the area but could give you an idea of what the Peninsula has to offer when it comes to great food.

Earthquakes have started again in the Reykjanes peninsula similar to the present events before the eruption in Mt. Fagradalsfjall last March. Due to that visitors are asked not to go hiking around the eruption site.

The Church in Krýsuvík burned down in 2010, immediately after the fire a group of people created a friend's association for the church with reforms of rebuilding it.

Early in the morning of the 15th of September, the Visit Reykjanes team went to the eruption site in Geldingadalir. During our visit, the team took a 360° image close to the crater. This image was taken shortly before the area was closed due to extreme lava flow.

Andrea Maack is an artist and perfume designer who was fascinated by Reykjanes when she moved back home in 2015 after a long stay in Italy. Colorful geothermal areas mixed with dark and cold nature are an inspiration in her brand Andrea Maak, but also in the design of her dream house Geopark Villa. She says it is remarkable itself that Reykjanes is recognized as a Geopark and that it is just allowed to build houses so close to unique geosites. "My foreign friends see how amazing this is, but Icelanders are gradually seeing it too".
