Fagradalshraun it is

Lilja Alfreðsdóttir Minister of education and culture, confirmed on 2. July a decision by the local council of Grindavík that the lava that now flows by the sites of Fagradalsfjall will be named Fagradalshraun. The direct translation is "beautiful-valley-mountain- lava -field".

At the end of May, Grindavík asked locals for ideas for the new natural phenomenon in the region. Locals submitted 399 ideas. The local council confirmed the name Fagradalshraun at its meeting on 25. May and sent the name request to the Minister of education-and culture confirmation, law number. 22/2015.

Fagradalsfjall is the best-known name in the area. The name also adduces to the Fagradalsfjall mountain system, one of several volcanic systems in Reykjanesskagi. Therefore the name really suits the lava, the newest part of Iceland.
