Weather Warning: Hiking to Mt. Fagradalsfjall not recommended in the next 48 hours
The Authorities have issued a warning against hiking in and near Mt. Fagradalsfjall over the next two days (28.-29.Okt) due to a severe weather forecast.
According to the Icelandic Meteorological Office, the area is expected to experience strong winds, significant precipitation (in the form of snow or sleet), and rapidly deteriorating visibility. Conditions can change quickly and may become dangerous with little notice.
🔶 A yellow weather alert has been issued for the area.
🚫 Hikers and visitors are strongly advised to postpone any trips to the eruption area for the next 48 hours.
Authorities emphasise that the terrain is hazardous by nature, and search and rescue operations may become extremely difficult under such weather conditions. The authorities are monitoring the situation closely and will issue further updates as needed.
