Total Solar Eclipse on August 12: Paid Parking Areas on Reykjanes
On August 12, as a total solar eclipse crosses the Reykjanes Peninsula, a large number of people are expected to be in the area. Visitors should be aware that parking fees apply at several locations that may be popular for viewing the eclipse.
Here are the main paid parking areas:
Vogar
- Kálfatjörn – Paid parking. Toilets and drinking water are available on site.
Grindavík
- Fagradalsfjall P1–P4 – Approximately 1,200 parking spaces in total.
Suðurnesjabær
- Garðskagi / Skagabraut – Two parking areas with approximately 1,200 spaces in total. Toilets are available in the area.
- Víðisvöllur – Approximately 100 parking spaces.
- Hvalsnes
- Keflavík International Airport
Reykjanesbær
- Reykjanes Lighthouse
We encourage visitors to check parking arrangements in advance and be prepared for parking fees when planning their day. A large number of visitors are expected across Reykjanes, so planning ahead is recommended.
