Post-war Iceland - a musical journey
The singer- actress Jana Maria takes the audience through the stories behind the cultural influence of the US Army permanently based in Keflavik from 1951. Accompanied by the pianist Vignir Þór Stefánsson, the program consists of songs made popular by Caterina Valente, Frank Sinatra, Elly and Villi Vilhjálms, Burt Bacharach and others.
The cultural influence was inherent, bands had to be formed and singers had to be found, to entertain the US Army - which sparked a new era in the Keflavik music scene.
