Dear friends.
This autumn marks four years since I, Már, flew the nest and crossed the sea in search of adventure. I am now in my final year at the wonderful Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) in Manchester. To mark the occasion, I am performing my third and final concert in Iceland alongside the RNCM Session Orchestra.
The concert will cover a lot of ground. Alongside music written by me, we will perform a selection of songs that have shaped me over the years, presented in stunning new symphonic arrangements.
The RNCM Session Orchestra consists of thirty outstanding young instrumentalists. These musicians are rising stars of the English orchestral scene and regularly perform with ensembles such as the BBC Philharmonic, The Hallé and Opera North in Manchester.
Working with these talented musicians over the past few years has been an invaluable learning experience and a great honour. I am very much looking forward to welcoming the group to our beautiful hometown, Reykjanesbær.
A project of this scale is a major undertaking, and the support of local people and generous sponsors has been invaluable throughout this journey.
