How can we inspire travellers to leave a positive impact on the places they visit? This is the core question behind Green Footprint, a new Erasmus+ project focused on promoting responsible and regenerative travel practices among young people

The Volcanic Way has received a grant from the Icelandic government’s Regional Development Plan to support its continued development, communication and marketing. The project is a collaboration between Visit Reykjanes and Visit South Iceland and plays an important role in strengthening the region as a destination shaped by volcanic forces.

The REGENERATE project, led by Visit Reykjanes, has been selected as Iceland’s official regenerative tourism best practice for the upcoming exhibition at the European Parliament in January 2026. Organised by the European Travel Commission, the exhibition highlights how tourism across Europe is contributing positively to local communities, nature, and long-term regional resilience.

The Blue Lagoon Reykjanes is one of Iceland’s most iconic geothermal attractions, located right on the Reykjanes Peninsula. But there’s much more to discover beyond its soothing, milky-blue waters.
